In the Oct. 2 release the University revealed its total enrollment is also at an all-time high, surpassing the previous record set in 2008.
The new count brings the Lawrence and Edwards campuses to a total enrollment of 30,770, with the 5,323 students in the 2024 freshman class comprising nearly 18% of the campuses’ combined enrollment.
The release also touted record freshman enrollment in several programs, including the health sciences and education, business and journalism schools.
Additionally, minority student enrollment is at an all-time high, with nearly 26% of enrolled students identifying as such.
Chancellor Doug Girod said in the release that while these records are good for the University, the administration is still looking forward to anticipated upcoming challenges.
“This is a historic year for the University of Kansas, and we should all pause to celebrate and be proud of the work we’ve done,” Girod said. “That said, we must continue our work to recruit and retain top students and create a university they want to attend. “
