Hosted by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, the event features more than 40 local restaurants and businesses at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Guests can sample dishes, enjoy drinks, and connect with local brands that help make Lawrence unique.

“Usually Taste of Lawrence has only been food and beverage vendors, and this year we’re allowing any of our members to be there,” Jarrod Martin, chamber director of events, said. “So anyone attending has an opportunity to meet food and beverage but also local businesses.”

The event also shines a spotlight on educators, honoring their impact on students and the local workforce.

“Our educators are the people that are teaching the future of our workforce,” Martin said. “Having a moment that honors them, it’s a wonderful thing and the least we can do as the chamber.”

Local restaurants play a big role in the celebration, including Dempsey’s, where General Manager Tyler Kraines says he’s excited to see the community come together.

“Last year I actually cooked for the Taste of Lawrence,” Kraines said. “This year I’m excited to be on the other side and seeing the Lawrence community out and enjoying themselves.”
