The cafe provides its student-workers with a hands-on learning environment. All proceeds directly benefit students, including wages for student-workers and supplemental funding for student activities.

Student barista Kanyon Alexander, said the cafe’s environment is a positive place to hang out with a drink or snack.

“We make sandwiches, we make drinks, we talk to people,” Alexander said. “[We] cultivate this nice environment for students to come and hang out, faculty too, and just enjoy the space.”

The on-campus location is a great benefit to Haskell students, like Connie.

“It’s a lot more convenient for people who may not have their own cars to go to like Starbucks or somewhere in town,” Connie said. “People can come here before or in between classes, it’s just really nice.”

Cedar and Sage Café is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. located inside Stidham Hall at Haskell Indian Nations University.
