The “Bold Women” exhibit highlights women’s impact on art and society and showcases over 75 pieces by 50 artists.

“The focus all along has been on the strength of women, as a broadly defined group, to address issues of social justice and how they have created change,” said Susan Earle, the exhibit curator.

“I think it is just such a robust exhibition. We have video, installation, painting, drawing, photography, sculptures, so many different mediums. It really is a showcase of all the different ways women from all over the world, in different time periods and cultures, have created bold artwork,” said Elizabeth Kanost, the Spencer’s director of external affairs.

The museum created an online version that highlights each work and features more pieces in tandem with the in-person exhibition. The online version will be available indefinitely.

“One of the things we always try to do with our exhibitions at the Spencer Museum is to make sure that all visitors that come can find a connection with the artwork and the artists we are highlighting,” Kanost said. “The Spencer Museum of Art is a place for all students to find inspiration, no matter what they are studying.”

The in-person exhibit will be open at the Spencer until July 6, 2025.
