A CDC panel voted to shift away from the traditional recommendation that everyone should get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The panel recommends that an individual should consult their healthcare provider to make the decision on whether or not they receive the vaccine. The panel also recommends providers communicate risks of the vaccine more clearly to patients.

President Trump spoke to reporters from the oval office and said he received the vaccine without complications.

“I don’t know exactly what the final determination is, but I had the vaccine. I was very happy with it, here I am,” Trump said.

The panel’s new vaccine recommendations still need approval from the CDC director.

The vaccine is currently still available without a prescription, Watkins health center is out of doses, but the Douglas County Health Department has doses available. Walk-in clinics will be held on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting on Sept. 26 and running through the end of October. Students should contact their health insurance provider to see if they are covered for the vaccine.
