Fresh Cut Smoothies brings a healthy splash of color to Downtown Lawrence

Fresh Cut Smoothies, a new smoothie and juice shop, recently opened its doors on Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence, offering new options for quick, healthy drinks.

The business quietly opened its doors on Monday in the space formerly belonging to the North Amyx Barbershop on Massachusetts Street. Its bright decorations, inventive recipes and a community-driven menu is already catching the attention of local residents.

Owner Dan Luckey, a Lawrence native with over 20 years of experience working in downtown Lawrence, said that he wanted to bring something unique back to Massachusetts Street.

“It just seemed like a natural fit. We haven’t had a smoothie shop down here in almost a decade, and so it just seemed like right place, right time,” Luckey said.

Luckey envisioned the shop as a warm and positive space for locals or visitors to stop by during their morning routines or work breaks.

“I just want it to be an inviting space for people to come in and enjoy a quick smoothie when they’re either on break or if they just need a little pick-me-up in the morning,” Luckey said.

Adding a novel twist to a classic business, Fresh Cut Smoothies’ website lets customers submit their own original smoothie recipes and voice their opinions on the menu, ensuring the community plays a role in the shop’s offerings.

Employee Jolie Kerwin said the colorful vibe has already made a big impression.

“It’s really colorful and bright. It’s an amazing part to start someone’s day off. I think our amazing art piece has dragged a lot of people in,” Kerwin said.

Even without directly advertising its opening, the shop is already seeing enthusiastic support from the Lawrence community.

“People are excited to finally have a smoothie shop out here again,” Luckey said.
