Jayhawks sweep through non-conference play, remain perfect at home
The Kansas volleyball team closed out its non-conference schedule in impressive fashion this past weekend, defeating both Ole Miss and Grand Canyon University.
Under head coach Matt Ulmer, KU has established itself as a force at home, remaining undefeated in Lawrence without dropping a single set all season.
“We want to protect home as much as possible. The road is always going to be difficult,” said Ulmer. “It feels good, we have not dropped a set yet at home so let’s just do that all year.”
Freshman standout Taylor Stanley has continued to lead the Jayhawks’ offense and is piling up accolades along the way. Stanley has earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and National Player of the Week.
Her National Player of the Week honor marks the first time a Jayhawk has received the award since 2016. Fans can learn more about Stanley in an exclusive Playmakers interview airing Friday at 1 p.m.
KU also hosted the neutral-site matchup between Ole Miss and Grand Canyon University. Grand Canyon emerged victorious, defeating Ole Miss in four sets.
With non-conference competition now complete, the Jayhawks turn their attention to Big 12 play. Kansas opens conference action this weekend with a home match against Houston before heading on the road to face Texas Tech.
The Jayhawks will look to carry their momentum into conference play as they continue one of their strongest starts to a season.
