The KU Gateway District, which will include a new-and-improved Memorial Stadium, will also feature new conference rooms, dining, retail, and office space that will provide a brand new experience for students and fans.

“It has been a thrill to see construction begin in earnest in Lawrence on the Gateway District and David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, and this decision allows that construction to continue on a necessary timeline while also benefiting the overall budget of the project and the 2024 fan experience.” Travis Goff, the University’s athletic director, said in a Jan. 2024 press conference.

In the meantime, students have the opportunity to see the Jayhawks play in two notable stadiums, while being transported to the venues for free by bus.

“It’s obviously not being at a home field, but still being similar to kind of home,” Mikayla Leader, program coordinator for Student Union Activities, said, “It’s working with athletics to try and get it to still feel kind of home-y and do all the same traditions that we do here in Lawrence at Kansas City and on different fields.”

Students who buy their Sports Combo Pass will receive tickets to the games as usual, and can reserve their seats for the bus using the Corq app and the Rock Chalk Central website. Meeting locations for students to load the buses are at the Jayhawk Welcome Center, and on Daisy Hill.
