Students gathered outside the Kansas Union on April 29 to take part in the third KU Red Cross blood drive of the academic year. Hosted by the newly established KU American Red Cross Club, the event offered students a simple yet powerful way to help those in need.

Blood donations remain a critical part of medical care, and just one pint can save up to three lives. The KU American Red Cross Club has already collected over 100 pints across its events this year and that number continues to grow.
“Blood drives are probably the number one way to directly impact and save a life,” Daniella Beers, President of KU Red Cross, said. “Even if someone can’t donate due to medical reasons or fear of needles, just spreading the word makes a difference.”
The KU American Red Cross Club aims to connect students with meaningful service opportunities. In addition to organizing blood drives, the club actively partners with other student groups to expand its reach and raise awareness about the importance of giving back.
“We’ve collaborated with Doctors Without Borders, Best Buddies, the Latin American Student Union, and the Black Student Union,” Beers said. “By working with other organizations, we’re able to grow our membership and spread the word about how students can get involved.”
The KU ARCC plans to host more drives and community service events in the fall semester. Students interested in joining or learning more about upcoming events can visit the club’s Instagram page at @ku_arcc.
From blood donations to campus-wide collaboration, the KU community continues to show up in support of others one pint at a time.
