Kansas men’s basketball transfer guard Shakeel Moore has suffered a broken foot, sidelining him for 6-8 weeks.

The incident took place during a pickup game, making him the second guard injured for the Jayhawks before the season begins.
“Shakeel is a combo guard who can play on and off the ball.” Head Coach Bill Self said in a press conference after Moore signed with the team in June. “He is a terrific athlete and we feel like he will be a nice compliment to the personnel on our roster. His experience and maturity should be a good fit here.”
Moore, who started his career at North Carolina State before transferring to Mississippi State, is coming off a season averaging 7.9 PPG with 2.2 APG. Moore was a key piece to a Mississippi State team who were a No. 8 seed in 2024, falling to Michigan State in the Round of 64.
Moore along with Elmarko Jackson are two valuable pieces of the Kansas backcourt who have both suffered injuries, a trend that Kansas Men’s Basketball knows all too well; last season, injuries plagued the Jayhawks, with both Hunter Dickinson and Star guard Kevin McCullar suffering injuries in the weeks leading up to postseason play.
Moore’s current recovery timeline makes his availability for the team’s season opener at Allen Fieldhouse on Oct. 29 questionable.
