A new building is under construction on the corner of 14th and Ohio Street, next to the Jayhawk Cafe; with no official news on the building’s eventual use, rumors of what it may be are floating around Lawrence.

With no official word on what’s coming, students and community members are left guessing. Students said rumors range from a sandwich shop to a new bar, or even an Airbnb and apartment complex. 

“I’ve heard it’s going to be like a, like a deli shop for sandwiches,” said Hudson Henzlik, a sophomore at KU studying Finance.

“So the senior house of the fraternity I live in is right behind the building and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a bar,” Jack Grimes, a KU freshman studying Human Biology said.

In a report from the Lawrence Journal-World, the project designer shared that it is planned to be a restaurant on the lower level with several apartments above.
