KC Monarchs continue playoff run at Legends Field

The Kansas City Monarchs, Kansas City’s professional baseball team, continue their playoff run after an impressive regular-season finish.

The Monarchs are back at Legends Field this Thursday at 6:35 p.m., taking on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the West Division Championship Series. The game is one of the last few before the American Association Championship Series.

“ … They finished the regular season with the best record in the American Association, and we won the West,” said control booth intern Grant Snowden. “We’ve got a lot of great players out there right now, but we’re going to have a lot of fun.”

The Monarchs are looking to continue their dominance and find revenge after the RedHawks ended their playoff run last season.

“We have the best overall record, and certainly, I would argue the best overall roster from top to bottom,” said voice of the Monarchs, Joey Feerer.

With the series tied 1-1, Feerer said the crowd contributes to the energy of the team.

“You know, late in the game, I think when things get more intensified and it’s a close score, I think your voice naturally kinda raises, also with the crowd on hand as well,” he said.

Snowden said the excitement can also be felt from inside the control booth.

“In some of those high-pressure situations when it kinda boils over, and there’s a big moment, you know, the excitement in your voice jumps a little bit,” he said. “There’s also moments where you gotta let the crowd have their moment and not interfere.”

With the series in Kansas City this week, fans can expect a wide variety of activities such as tailgating, in-game entertainment, and playoff baseball fun.
