The Fashion Business Organization at the University of Kansas is preparing for their up and coming fashion show, starting with a casting call held earlier this week.
Students hoping to model in the show followed a strict code, keeping their hair out of their face and wearing light makeup and form fitting clothes for a chance to walk in the show.
The designers that have been selected for the show had the opportunity to sit in on the casting call and look at future prospects to design for. When chosen, these student models will come out with custom-made clothes and runway experience.
“It’s a great opportunity for students in all aspects of creativity and art to come together and kinda create a showcase of what KU truly is about,” said Jack Berry, president of FBO.
A lot of students that decided to try out for the model walk were first time fashion models, looking to either make a break into the fashion industry or simply gain confidence from the show. Freshman Leah Guetter said she’s looking forward to “getting out there, having new experiences, meeting new people and trying to boost my confidence.” The FBO show is an opportunity for that to happen, as the casting call was a safe space for many to try their hand in modeling.
The club executives are working to market the organization and create a space where fashion in the business world can be explored. The fashion show will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 18 at Capitol Federal Hall.
