Lawrence’s The Roost has officially earned the title of having the best breakfast sandwich in Kansas.
Last week, food website “The Takeout’ released a collection of the best breakfast sandwiches in every website. For Kansas, author Billy Francis crowned The Roost’s Biscuit Breakfast Sandwich as his winner.
The sandwich is described as having, “two halves of a melt-in-your-mouth buttermilk biscuit…pecan wood-smoked bacon or sausage, an egg, and cheddar cheese.” Since its opening by Sean and Manda Jolly in 2013, The Roost, located on Massachusetts Street, has become a downtown Lawrence staple, serving up hearty breakfast and brunch options.
Co-owner Sean Jolly says that he was proud of the recognition his restaurant was getting.
“It’s pretty exciting. There’s a lot of places in the great state of Kansas to go get a breakfast sandwich, but Biscuit Sammy. Can’t beat it. And to the best of my knowledge we’re the only person in town that, the only place in town that offers that, so, I’m glad somebody recognized it,” Jolly said.
For locals and visitors, this nod from “The Takeout” is a tasty reminder of what Lawrence has to offer, shining a spotlight on a local business.
