The University of Kansas Senate Academic Policies and Procedures Committee held an open meeting on Sept. 23 to hear public comments about the seven undergraduate and five graduate programs up for discontinuance:
- Graduate Certificate in Studies in Equity & Social Diversity
- MA in Religious Studies
- MS in Environmental and Water Resources Science
- PhD in Environmental and Water Resources Science
- PhD in Film & Media Studies
“The seven undergraduate programs we looked at were chosen because they mirrored either a major or minor without a whole lot of difference in requirements,” committee chair Joe Walden said.
All of the public comments given during the event were in support of each program being discontinued. The committee voted to move in the discontinuance process of all but one program. The committee will now send a letter to the University Senate President for the rest of the student senate to vote on.
